Day 1: Au Revoir America!

Away we go!

Well...not quite. I'm still at home. However, I am getting ready to pack everything up and head to the airport! The flight departs from Dulles kind of early for a red-eye--4:40PM. We arrive in Paris at 6:00AM; this means no hotel, no time to shower, no time to nap... We get to the city, get on our bus, and we're off on our adventure!

Just a little background on this trip: It's an exchange with EF Tours that is being run for girls at my old high school. My mom, as chair of the language department, wants to give her students as many opportunities as possible to travel abroad and use the skills they've learned outside of the classroom. There are 40 of us total--Wowzas. I am technically a chaperone, so I'll be looking out for some baby freshman as we make the trip across the puddle. Most of our students are rising seniors in high school, but we do have some as young as 14 traveling with us.
We also have several faculty members coming along, including 3 teachers from my mom's department. One of the college counselors will also be joining us, as well as 2 of the students' grandmothers. It'll be a full house from beginning to end!

I will do my best to keep up with this blog every day that we are abroad--I must, however, apologize in advance for whatever auto correct does. I will not have my computer with me, and therefore must rely on my nifty little iTouch to record my thoughts and observations. I won't be able to upload pictures as I go along, since my iTouch has no camera, but I hope that the descriptive language I use can paint a decent picture for you. :)

5 1/2 Hours 'till takeoff! Bon Voyage!
